What Is a Handheld Terminal?
A handheld terminal is a battery-powered, portable computer built for data collection, identity verification, and field management, going to the construction zone, the warehouse bay, or the delivery route, rather than requiring the worker to come to a fixed station. It captures barcodes, reads NFC/RFID, verifies identity, records attendance, and transmits data over 4G or WiFi to a central system no dependency on a fixed network connection at the point of use.
The ESR366-S is the standard all-purpose field terminal. The ESR860 adds an integrated thermal printer for workflows needing a physical record on the spot. EASCO's own page also references an ESR51 rugged variant and an ESR366C gun-grip model; confirm current availability and specifications for these two directly with EASCO.
Key Features of EASCO Handheld Terminals
Standard high-availability features built into every model.
Octa-Core Processing Handles Parallel Field Tasks
The Qualcomm SM6225 8-core 2.4GHz chipset runs barcode scanning, biometric verification, 4G data transmission, and the Android interface simultaneously, with no lag waiting for the device to catch up mid-task.
Detachable Batteries Keep the Shift Running
4,600mAh on the ESR366-S, 5,600mAh on the ESR860, both detachable. Swap to a spare in the charging cradle without powering down; one spare battery per device effectively removes the battery as a shift-length constraint.
Printing When the Workflow Requires It
Most handheld terminals stop after capturing data. The ESR860 adds an integrated thermal printer for workflows that also require an immediate receipt, label, or confirmation slip, without carrying a second device.
Where Handheld Terminals Are Used
Ideally suited for demanding layouts where security meets environmental challenges.
Factories
A written sober-only policy doesn't enforce itself, and a loading dock outside network range can't run on a fixed terminal alone. This profile covers how EASCO addresses both.
Airports
A restricted airside zone needs tighter biometric tolerance than a staff entrance. This profile covers how EASCO addresses both zones.
Government
Public counters need throughput. Restricted records rooms need a tighter tolerance. Procurement needs documentation. This profile covers all three.
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to typical engineering and deployment questions.
Both run Android 13 on a Qualcomm SM6225 Octa-core 2.4GHz processor, with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage expandable via a TF card up to 256GB.
The ESR366-S has a 4,600mAh detachable battery; the ESR860 has a 5,600mAh detachable battery with a standby time of over 350 hours. Both support a charging cradle that charges the main unit and a spare battery simultaneously.
70mm/s thermal printing on 30mm-diameter, 57mm-wide paper, supporting labelled paper and receipts simultaneously. Includes black label sensing, no-paper detection, and over-heat/over-voltage protection.
Yes — both models include a 2D scanning engine (≥3mil accuracy) and NFC at 13.56MHz (ISO14443A/B, ISO15693, NFC). The ESR860 additionally supports optional UHF RFID (EPC Class 1 Gen 2, ≤2m read distance).
Both support 4G LTE (CN and EAU band configurations), dual-band WiFi (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS/GLONASS/BeiDou positioning. Type-C USB with OTG and Power Delivery is standard.
EASCO's product range references an ESR51 three-proof rugged variant and an ESR366C gun-grip model with a built-in HF card reader. Confirm current specifications and availability for these two models directly with EASCO.
